General | The Ural Rex is the result of a spontaneous mutation that originated in the city of Zarechniy (Sverdlovsk area, Ural) in Russia in 1988. Ural Rex is a muscular cat of medium size with wavy coat. The Rex mutation is different from that of Cornish/German Rex and Devon Rex. | Points |

Muzzle and chin | The cheekbones are high and pronounced. The muzzle is broad and rounded. There is a distinct pinch. The chin firm but slightly rounded. | 5 |
Profile | The forehead is slightly rounded, the profile forms a definite curve. A slight stop not higher than the level of lower eye-lid is allowed. The nose bridge flat and broad. | 5 |
Eyes | Large, slightly protruding, distinctly slanted. The upper lid is almond-shaped, the lower lid is slightly rounded. More than one eye width between the eyes is desired. All eye colours are permitted. | 5 |

Size and boning | The body is medium sized, muscular and relatively compact, close to square format, yet slender and elegant. | 5 |

Length | The coat is of medium length, forming spirals or long curls. Length is prone to seasonal variations. Cats with longer coat, full ruff, tail furnishing and breeches are preferred. The ruff of a cat in full coat looks like a halo consisting of elastic spirals. | 10 |
Texture | Fine, soft, silky and dense. The special feature of this breed is the striking elasticity of the wave. | 30 |
Colour | The colours not belonging to the original gene pool (chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, caramel, sepia and mink colours as well as their combinations with white) are not recognized. All other colours and patterns including the pointed pattern are recognized. Any amount of white is permitted. | 5 |

Remarks | The curl develops to 2 years of age. Absence of waves in kittens during development period is to be tolerated. Seasonal shorter coat length is also tolerated, but cats in full coat are preferred. |
