Body:

Size and boning

The medium sized cat is solid and compact.

10

Torso

The back is short but not overshortened and ends in a totally round rump (round like an orange).  The height of hindquarters equals the body length. The deep flanks are an essential feature of this breed.

10

Neck

Short, thick neck.

Legs and paws

The legs are muscular, the front legs are short, set well apart and display a broad chest. The hind legs are longer than the front legs. The paws are round.

Tail

The following tail varieties are recognized:
Rumpy - The tail is completely absent. At the end of the spine there is a pronounced hollow.
Rumpy riser - The spine rises at the base upwards to a slight bow, such that the hand stroking over the base will not be stopped in its movement.

Coat:

Length

Texture

Double-coated showing a well padded quality arising from a short, very thick undercoat and slightly longer overcoat. The double quality of the coat is of far more importance than colour or markings, which should be taken into consideration only if all other points are equal. A softer coat may occur in whites and dilutes due to color/texture gene link but should not be confused with the silky texture found in the Cymric.

Colour

The colours not belonging to the original gene pool (chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, caramel, colourpointed, sepia and mink colours as well as their combinations with white) are not recognized. All other colours and patterns are recognized. Any amount of white is permitted.

Condition

See general part.

Special breed faults

Eyes not obliquely set.
Lack of defined whisker break.
In profile - pronounced stop or nose break.
Coat that lacks density or has a cottony texture.
A definite and prominent rise of bone or cartilage at the end of the spine.

Without certificates

Definite and prominent rise of bone or cartilage at the end of the spine interfering with the roundness of the rump, such that it stops the hand.

Disqualify

Evidence of weakness in the hindquarters preventing the cat from moving and standing normally.

Remarks

Recognized for breeding only: Stumpy - The tail should not be longer than 3-4 cm.
The rump should be examined using the palm. It is prohibited to probe the rump hollow with fingers or thumbs.
