General  

LaPerm is a medium-sized cat with medium fine boning and a unique curly coat. The hair mutation is different from any other Rex mutation.

Top of head 

Modified wedge with gently rounded contours. Top of head is flat.

Muzzle and chin 

The muzzle is broad with rounded contours and with a moderate to strong whisker break; whisker pads are full and rounded with long, flexible whiskers. The firm chin forms a vertical line with the tip of the nose.

Profile  

The profile has a slight dip below the lower eye level. The nose is straight, broad and of moderate length.

Eyes 

The eyes are medium in size, almond-shaped, looking rounder when wide opened. They are set moderately far apart and set at a slight slant towards the base of the ears. All eye colours are permitted.

Ears 

The ears are medium to large in size, with ear furnishings and earmuffs, slightly cupped and flared to continue the wedge of the head.  Lynx-tufts are preferred.

The body is of medium length, muscular and has medium to fine boning.

Rump is slightly raised.

Medium long, carried erect. 

Legs and paws 

Muscular and of medium length. Hind legs slightly longer than front legs, paws are rounded.

The tail is medium long in proportion to the body, thicker at the base and slightly tapering. The tail looks like a bottle brush.

Texture  

Springy, light and airy with a varying degree of softness, but not wiry. The curly or wavy coat must stand off from the body. The curls are not very tight. The coat can be easily parted along the back.
