Korat - KOR

This is a preliminary standard.
Final version is to be approved by the Standard Commission, and will soon be published.

General

The Korat not only looks like the ancient blue Si-Sawat cat from Siam, but in fact all Korats can trace their ancestry back to Thailand.

Shape

Top of head

When viewed from the front, the head is heart-shaped. The eyebrow ridges form the upper curves of the heart-shape, the soft contours of the face gently curve to the chin, completing the heart-shape. The forehead is broad, large and flat.

Muzzle and chin

Muzzle neither sharply pointed nor square, giving a moderately pointed look to the face. Chin is strong.  Jaw pinch is undesirable.

Profile

Nose is short and with slight downward curve. In profile there is a slight stop between forehead and nose.

Eyes

Rounded, widely opened eyes, which appear almost oversized to the face. Set very wide. They are brilliant and expressive. A luminous green is preferred, amber is tolerated.

Ears

The ears are large, broad and cupped at the base and slightly rounded, set high and flared to follow the contours of the upper head. The inside of the ears is sparsely furnished, the outside is furnished with short and dense hairs.
